The “Was” and “Were” of Our Lives May Not Continue to “Be” as They Were

rainforest_smIn the beginning it was tough for the spoiled kid who did not want to fly coach. But slowly, he started to like the people who lived a simple and honest life style. In the winter of 2011, just before returning to the States, he decided to hike down the river for two days. The two days were over when he realized he got lost. When his cousin and a search team found him, he nearly collapsed. They brought him back home to safety and he eventually recovered.

A Silver Bullet for Cancer?

In folklore, a silver bullet is the only weapon able to kill werewolves or  monsters. Finding a silver bullet for the cancer monster remains one of the Holy Grails for scientists. One day researchers will find one. Until then, we can only lament that far more resources are invested in curing cancer than preventing it.

Extreme weather events in so many parts of the globe hint at what climate scientists have been reporting of late. Earlier predictions were too conservative and the pace of warming is more rapid than earlier evidence had led us to believe. While the local and regional disruptions from more severe storms, more intense heat or increased snowfall, are disturbing we somehow hide our heads in the sands that are being relentlessly covered by the rise in sea levels.
